At NIDO, we are dedicated to changing the trajectory of children’s lives in Northern Kenya. Our initiatives go beyond providing immediate assistance; they are designed to create lasting impact, fostering a foundation for a brighter future.

Our team successfully organized a walk for a cause, raising awareness about menstrual health and hygiene while advocating for the well-being of young girls. During the walk, we also distributed sanitary kits to ensure that girls have access to essential hygiene products.

Dr. Ali Wario
Executive Director

Dr. Ali Wario, an accomplished medical professional with over 15 years of experience, is a leading expert in sexual and reproductive health. His distinguished career includes key roles at prestigious institutions like the Ministry of Health and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. As the Chief Officer of Isiolo County, he has implemented cutting-edge healthcare strategies, significantly improving community health outcomes. At the Ministry of Health, he played a crucial role in formulating and implementing policies, particularly in sexual reproductive health. His tenure at the University of Maryland involved groundbreaking research initiatives to enhance understanding and bridge gaps in healthcare access. Dr. Wario's visionary leadership and collaborative efforts position him as a pioneer in advancing sexual reproductive health agendas, setting new standards for excellence in the medical profession.

Adan Chari Jirmo
Strategic Advisor

(Education, Health and Environmental Conservation and Management)
Dr. Adan Chari Jirmo, a renowned academician, holds an international reputation and has pursued studies in various Kenyan universities before obtaining his PhD in Immunology and Virology in Germany. Originally from Merti Sub-County in Isiolo, Kenya, he intimately understands the challenges faced by the people in the regions served by the Northern Integrated Development Organization (NIDO). Dr. Jirmo is actively involved in enhancing the capacity of learning institutions in Isiolo County, promoting competence-based education. Additionally, he champions initiatives to support girls' education, participating in awareness campaigns led by community-based organizations. Driven by a deep passion for education, he firmly believes that it is the key to sustainable transformation, capable of positively impacting future generations.

Barako Elema
Strategic Advisor

(Resource Management, Advocacy, civil rights and legal issues)
Mr Barako Elema Qatamur is with the State Law Office and Department of Justice as a Parliamentary Advisor to the Attorney General. He represents the Attorney General in the Board of Trustees of the Water Sector Trust Fund (WaterFund) as well as in the Board of National Environmental Management Authority as Director. Mr Qatamur worked with the Judiciary for more than 11 years, as Head of Protocol in the Office of the Chief Justice. He holds a Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Studies from the University of Nairobi with a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law, a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB), Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies (Public Relations) and Senior Management Course from the Kenya School of Government (KSG). Mr Qatamur is Certified Professional Mediator and a member of various professional bodies including Law Society of Kenya, Public Relations Society of Kenya, Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association and Mediation Training Institute International, USA.
